What writers use most
A lane for each character
Give each point-of-view character, faction or storyline its own lane on one time axis. If two characters must be in the same city in the same year, you can see whether they are.
Your own era names
Count years before and after your world’s own epoch, such as BBY and ABY or BF and AF. Events in a custom era use whole years.
Deep history and the story on one axis
Put the fall of an ancient empire and the year your book takes place on the same timeline. Turn on the gap cut to shorten the long empty stretches between them.
Events inside events
A war can contain its campaigns, and a campaign its battles. When an event is wide enough on screen, it opens to show the events inside it.
Share with co-writers and players
Send a link, embed the timeline in a wiki or a site that accepts an iframe, or invite a co-editor to work on it with you.
Bring your notes across
Import a CSV from the spreadsheet you already keep. Columns such as title, date, lane and description are matched by name.
How to start

Can I make my own calendar?
You can name your own era, such as BBY and ABY, and count years before and after it. Custom eras use whole years only. Invented months, days and leap rules are not supported.
Is my unpublished world private?
Yes. Every timeline is private until you share it. You choose whether to share it by link, embed it, or list it in the public gallery.
Can I share it with my players or readers?
Yes. Send the share link, or embed the timeline in a wiki or website that accepts an iframe. You can share up to 3 timelines at once for free. With Creator you can share as many as you want and remove the badge from embeds.
Does it connect to World Anvil or Scrivener?
No. There is no direct connection. You can embed a timeline in any page that accepts an iframe, and move events in and out as CSV.
